Jovana Joka (1985) started her first saxophone lessons in Pula (Croatia) with prof. Arduino Malpera, continued at Academy of Music in Ljubljana with prof. Matjaž Drevenšek and at Conservatoire National de Region de Lyon with prof. Jean-Denis Michat. She was awarded by Prešern Student award of Academy of Music in Ljubljana for the performance of Glazunov concerto with Symphonic Orchestra RTV Slovenia and conductor En Shao.   During her time as a student she supplemented her musical knowledge at various seminars and masterclasses with professors such as: D. Sremec, G. Merčep, C. Delangle, V. David, K. Tse, E. Rousseau, A. Bornkamp and others.  From 2009-2011 she collaborated with the Slovenian Police Orchestra.  She is active in the duo with Danijela Horvat (piano), JazzIstra Orchestra, Sequoia saxophone Orchestra and LadieSaxophone Quartet.  Since 2011 she is a professor of saxophone at Music Conservatory Ljubljana in Slovenia. She has been mentoring young slovenian saxophonist in the SOS Junior saxohone orchestra project and in various workshops such as OrkesterkamP Bovec, Musica Creativa and Emona workshops.
